Hybrid Yoga Practice Styles

Restorative Gentle Yoga

  • A yoga style which is very gentle in its approach & not as strenuous as the other practices.

It is a good mental and physical workout that is less strenuous then standard yoga.

  • Gentle yoga is perfect for those who are looking for something on the gentle side that will support their overall wellbeing.

It is also great for beginners or those who do not have the flexibility to continue towards more advanced yoga level since it is a more laid back style of movement.

  • Slight modifications of the standard poses of Hatha Yoga, which is the most general & basic form of yoga.

During this practice you are given adequate time to recover between two poses, which can make a regular session of gentle yoga longer than the average session.

  • Modifications are made so that the practitioner (you) is not forced to go as deeply into the pose as the other yoga levels.

Gentle Yoga is designed to make sure you are not experiencing any discomfort while performing the poses.

Each practice modification varies as we are all in different places with our bodies.

Some poses may require extreme forms of modification, dependent on your individual needs.

Restorative Yoga

  • Restorative yoga is about slowing down and opening the body through passive stretching.

It allows your muscles to relax deeply during longer holds.

Combination of mindful breathing and body movements will rejuvenate you.

  • Restorative yoga is a style that is supportive of everyone because you can be at any level of fitness or can have no prior experience with yoga.

Most people that practice restorative yoga do so by incorporating it into their selfcare practice.

  • Restorative classes are very mellow, which makes it a good complement to more active practices.

This practice is a completely different feeling from other types of yoga classes, as you will be using props to support your body instead of your muscles.

Props used are bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, straps, and blocks to assist in helping eliminate unnecessary straining.

Restorative Yin Yoga

  • Yin is a slow-paced practice with postures that are held for longer periods of time. For beginners it may range from 1 minute to 2 minutes or for more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana (a posture adopted in performing hatha yoga (a yoga system of physical exercises and breathing control) for five minutes or more.

  • The important part is to know your body and listen to it. Don't take your body where it is not ready to go. It is all about your practice, what you need. It is not a competition. It is all about you at that very moment. And that goes for all the practices.

  • Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of your body. The tendons, fascia ("a thin sheath of fibrous tissue enclosing a muscle or other organ") and the ligaments, with the goal of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

  • More meditative approach:

You can have a more meditative approach to yoga, as yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, peace and centering yourself, bringing to light a quality experience .
